Bolt Action – A12 Matilda II Infantry Tank

Battle For France – The battle for France saw Matilda IIsfighting what would become a general retreat. However, Matildas caused problemsfor the Germans, whose 37mm and 50mm anti-tank guns were simply too small incalibre to penetrate the thick armour of the Matilda.

Western Desert – Perhaps the A12 Matilda II is moresynonymous with the ferocious battles in the desert where it was to meet itsmatch against the infamous 88s of the Afrika Korps.

The Far East – Later, as they became increasinglyobsolete compared to the later German vehicles, many were sent to the Fast Eastwhere the opposing Japanese tanks were much lighter.

It was the only British tank to remain in active service for theentire war.
